Many people fear that dental implants will be painful. The truth is that most of the time it is quick and easy with little to no pain. All patients will have local anesthetic placed prior to the procedure. Jawbone doesn’t have nerve innervation and therefore has no pain receptors. If any discomfort arises after the procedure, it is the gum tissue that is causing that pain. Gum tissue will feel better in approximately 48 hours after surgery day. Since we use advanced CBCT 3D imaging to plan the surgery, the pain and discomfort are minimized and, in some cases, nonexistent.

A typical single unit dental implant process will take about 4-5 months from the implant surgery day to the final crown placement day. However, this can vary depending on a few factors. If a tooth needs to be extracted first with a bone graft an additional 4 months is needed prior to the implant surgery day. If sinus grafting or advanced bone grafting is needed this will lengthen the process to over a year in some cases.
At Modern Dental of Durham, our fee for a single unit dental implant is $3,950. This cost includes CBCT Xray, surgical guide, implant parts and surgeries, and final tooth crown. If extractions and bone grafting are needed that is a separate fee. Some specialists may be as high as $6 to 7k per implant. We make dental implants affordable.
